Poland’s government has unveiled a long-term defence development programme that aims to raise the size of its armed forces to around 500,000 personnel by 2039, combining active service members with reservists and a high-readiness reserve component. The plan outlines an expanded force of about 300,000 regular troops alongside roughly 200,000 trained reserve personnel, reflecting Warsaw’s focus on enhancing national resilience and capacity for sustained operations.
